After an extensive brand refresh earlier this year, Alchemy Spice Company is preparing to sell its artisan spice blends to restaurants across the country through the US Foods Direct program and to consumers in Tennessee through Publix grocery stores.

US Foods, a leading national foodservice distributor serving more than 10,000 restaurants across the country, will distribute Alchemy’s 25 all-natural, freshly ground spice blends as part of its direct product-focused program specialty foods. Alchemy products will be available for purchase to professional chefs through the US Foods portal in October or November.

Two of Alchemy’s Tennessee-themed seasonings, Scenic City Grilling Pepper and Memphis Dry Rub, will also be sold at 51 Publix stores across the state, starting in October, as part of Tennessee Local’s product program. the grocery chain.

Alchemy has quadrupled its foodservice sales over the past two years and has added a line of business providing base spices and exclusive custom blends to leading restaurants and food businesses in Chattanooga and the Southeast, as well as to an international customer in South Korea.

As part of its expansion, Alchemy Spice also announced the hiring of Amanda Nelson Varnell as the new Marketing and Culinary Director. Varnell joins Alchemy after nine years running a local restaurant business, Dish T’Pass, which she founded and led as CEO.

The Nashville Entrepreneur Center (EC), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and local businesses throughout Middle Tennessee, is expanding its Twende program for entrepreneurs of color statewide.

Twende, which means ‘let’s go’ in Kiswahili, is a one-year acceleration program for black and brown business owners and tech business owners in Tennessee and supports their efforts to grow their business through mentorship. , networking and education.

“We are on a mission to make Tennessee the most entrepreneurial state of color, and we are honored to be working for a stronger and more inclusive business community across the state,” said Jane Allen, CEO of the Entrepreneur Center. “We know that entrepreneurship is the engine of economic success for minority communities, and by developing entrepreneurship like we are doing with Twende, we can help reduce the racial wealth gap by up to 80%.”

Twende has a virtual network that provides entrepreneurs of color access to a world-class program, a supportive community, and one-on-one mentorship.

The median net worth of black business owners is 12 times that of black non-business owners in Tennessee.
