SHERBURN – A life service celebration for Beulah D. Erickson, 90, of Sherburn, Minnesota, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minnesota with Reverend Steven D. Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.

Beulah was called to her eternal rest on Friday morning October 15, 2021 at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn, Minnesota. Visits and a time to share memories with the Erickson family will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn and one hour before church services. Beulah Doris Buchan was born March 21, 1931 in Jay Township, Martin County, Minnesota, to Ernest and Helen (Graves) Buchan. She was baptized and confirmed in the Alpha Presbyterian Church. She attended District 56 Country School in Jay Township and graduated from Sherburn High School and Mankato State University. On July 20, 1952, she married T. Duane Erickson in Alpha, MN and they lived in Karlsruhe, Germany, then on a farm near Armstrong, IA, before moving and living on two farms. from the Sherburn area.

The Lord gave Beulah the gift of teaching. She has spent her career as a schoolteacher, teacher in Worthington, MN, Armstrong, IA, and Sherburn, MN. She retired from teaching in 1992 after teaching for 30 years at Sherburn. She was a member of local teachers’ associations as well as Minnesota and national associations. She also belonged to the Minnesota Reading Council. One of the highlights of her teaching career was being named District Teacher of the Year as well as being nominated for Minnesota Teacher of the Year in 1978.

Beulah’s faith was an important part of his life. After the closure of the Alpha Presbyterian Church, in which she was both confirmed and married, she continued her journey of faith as an active member of the Jackson Presbyterian Church. She has been an elder and a deacon while being active in the Christian education program where she has been a teacher, director and coordinator. Beulah has also chaired and held positions in the congregation’s women’s programs. After the Jackson Presbyterian Church closed in 2021, Beulah joined St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn.

Survivors grateful for sharing Beulah’s life include: her 2 sons, Mark (Mary) of Storm Lake, IA, and Jon (Renae) of Sioux Falls, SD; 2 sisters, Peggy Burgeson and Cleone (Art) Syverson; 3 sisters-in-law, Elaine Buchan, Barbara Erickson and Ida Mae Erickson; 1 brother-in-law, Merv Steen; 7 grandchildren, Sheila, Josh, Seth, Tess, Jason, Conner and Adam; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Beulah was predeceased by her husband; his son Scott; his parents; His grand-parents; his twin brother Beryl; his sisters Bonnie and Joan; his brothers-in-law Robert, Walt, Wendell and Howard; and her sister-in-law Maxine.
