The NC State Poole College of Management recently appointed Jonathan Bohlmann as the interim head of the business management department. Bohlmann will replace Sebastian Heese, professor of supply chain management, who previously held the position.
Bohlmann joined Poole College in 2008 and focuses his research on innovation and product development, marketing strategy and team decision making. On innovation, Bohlmann tries to research both from the customer’s point of view and research into the company and its innovation strategy. It has been published in top marketing journals including Marketing Journal, Marketing Sciences, and the Marketing Research Journal.
âI think Jonathan will have an incredible impact,â said Frank Buckless, Stephen P. Zelnak Jr. Dean of Poole College. âHe has worked within the business management department for the past two years to improve program outcomes and has found ways to innovate in and outside the classroom. The students have certainly benefited from his advocacy and I know the college will be with him in this role as well. “
The students have certainly benefited from his advocacy and I know the college will support him in this role as well.
In his new role, Bohlmann hopes to build on the momentum of the new Marketing Analytics program and promote business analytics more broadly throughout the department and college. More importantly, he would like to specifically define what Poole can do to create better experiences for our amazing students.
Before academia, Bohlmann worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry on the design of advanced aircraft. He has managed several research and development projects related to innovations in material and product design optimization.
âThe department has a great group of people and programs, so I hope I can also be a strong advocate for the great work they do,â said Bohlmann. “Sebastian [Heese] has really moved things forward during the challenges of the past few years, and I’m glad we’re able to bring back the Zone Coordinator team of Julie, Mark and Don to help keep things on a positive course.
Bohlmann holds a BSc and MSc in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University as well as an MBA from Texas Christian University. He also received a doctorate in marketing from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1996.
