College and major expected: I plan to attend Rowan-Cabarrus Community College for about a year for my prerequisites, then hope to transfer to NC State to acquire my doctorate in veterinary medicine.

Decisive moment: Whenever I was out of foster care when I was about 16 years old. It was then that I felt like things were finally going well in my life, and I had high hopes for my future.

The secret to your success in high school: The reason I was successful in high school was by taking the academic opportunities that were available to me, such as AP and community college classes, and making school my number one priority.

If I had $ 10 million: I would make sure my family and I were financially prepared for the future.

Madisyn Smith

Parents: Misty and Michael Smith

Elementary and middle schools: North Hills Christian School and North Rowan Elementary School, North Rowan Middle School

College and major expected: UNC Wilmington and major in biology with a specialization in health sciences

Career Objective: Plastic surgeon

Sports letter: Cheerleading

Outside of school: Work as a CNA and enjoy the time outdoors.

Decisive moment: Earning my CNA in high school was a defining moment in my life and validated my desire to get into medicine.

The secret to your success in high school: Discipline and motivation

If I had $ 10 million: I would help fund Rowan-Salisbury schools and deepen educational opportunities within the community.

Abby smith

Parents: Terry and Amy Smith

Elementary and middle schools: North Rowan Elementary School and North Rowan Middle School

College and major expected: Appalachian State University, Nursing

Career Objective: My career goal is to be a pediatric intensive care nurse in a children’s hospital.

Letter to Sport and Leadership Positions: Cheerleading, Senior Class President, Key Club Vice President, Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team.

Outside of school: Active member at Oakdale Baptist Church and babysitter for local families

Decisive moment: Become a certified nurse’s aide

The secret to your success in high school: Stay on top of all your work and don’t procrastinate.

If I had $ 10 million: I would give it to support missionary work in America and other countries.

Anna everhart

Parents: Carol and Kelly Everhart

Elementary and middle schools: North Rowan Elementary School and North Rowan Middle School

College and major expected: I am attending NC State University to major in Biomedical Engineering.

Career Objective: I would like to be a medical assistant.

Letter to Sport and Leadership Positions: I have written in volleyball, softball, women’s golf and cheerleading. I was elected Student Body President, Key Club President and National Technical Honor Society President this year.

Outside of school: I am a very active member of the Lutheran Church of St. John’s youth group and work as CNA in Trinity Oaks.

Decisive moment: Attending the ELCA National Youth Gathering in Houston in the summer of 2018. It was an eye-opening experience that allowed me to form friendships and deepen my relationship with God.

The secret to your success in high school: So as not to stress the things I can’t control. COVID has given me many opportunities that would not have been possible in a normal year.

If I had $ 10 million: I would tithe my church first. I would put the rest of the money in a savings account when I needed it and pay off all the debts of my family members.
