Pattie Ruth Janeway James, died January 2022. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK in December 1925, the daughter of a CH Scout executive and Ruth (Harvey) Janeway. She grew up in both Oklahoma and Texas, spending her high school and college years in Stillwater, OK. Pattie was raised in a Methodist church and in high school she was even the darling of the local Demolay chapter and the darling of the Methodist college fraternity. His claim to fame: his first was with Fess Parker! She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha (75) where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Home Economics (primarily for sewing) from Oklahoma A&M, (aka OSU). She went to Ottawa, KS where she was Director of Christian Education for the Methodist Church. There she met and married David James of Belleville, KS who predeceased her in June 2001. The family moved to the new community, Broomfield, CO in 1960 and owned Cowboy Cleaners. During her early years in Broomfield, she served on the planning and decorating committee for Bal Swan fundraisers and Catholic church dances. She was a member of the finance committee during the construction and decoration of Maryel Manor. She and David were among those who helped paint the new Methodist Church built in the early 1960s. Pattie also belonged to Questers and became a member of PEO in 1975. She enjoyed traveling and cruising in Europe, the UK and in the United States. Pattie was involved in gardening, sewing, painting, singing, crafts, reading, writing, spiritual growth, and antiquing. She and David were members for several years of the “Swing Choir” which David helped start. During her sons’ growing years, Pattie often made modifications for cleaners, served as a housewife, and worked with Cubs and Boy Scouts. Later, she worked in the school system as an assistant clerk. She is survived by her three sons, Bill -Broomfield CO, Tom-Westminster CO, Matt-Honolulu HI, and granddaughter Courtney (Chip) Cutter and great grandsons Simon and Eli of San Diego CA. Her husband David helped establish the Broomfield Emergency Ambulance Service. Per Pattie’s wish, she was an anatomical donor for first responder training. A memorial and interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery (opposite BHS) upon the return of his remains.
