Pine Bluff Area Church News from December 17th

• THE EIGHTH AVENUE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will present its annual Women’s Day service at 11 am Sunday. The guest speaker will be Margaret Gatson from Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church. The community is invited to attend in person, on Facebook Live or via Instagram.

• THE BAPTIST MISSIONARY CHURCH OF THE AMOS CHAPEL, 1307 W. 16th Ave., invites everyone to worship with them at 11 am Sunday. The youth service will present its annual Christmas program. Guest saxophonist will be Darnell Cannward. Patrice Emerson and Tasha Woods are youth leaders and Reverend Robert Willis Jr. is the pastor. Safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are in effect every Sunday.

• ST. JAMES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 900 University Drive, will be hosting a holiday food distribution in partnership with the Arkansas Food Bank from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. The distribution is open to the community and is expected to serve 200 households, according to a press release.

• THE BREAD HOUSE DELIVERY CHURCH, 500 S. Main St., will be distributing boxes of food Monday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. or until all boxes are gone, according to a press release. Masks and other safety protocols are still in effect due to the pandemic. New customers must have their identity card / driver’s license and an invoice showing their address and name. Current customers with the pantry will only need their ID. Additionally, all clients must complete a new intake form to receive a box on January 17th.

• THE BAPTIST NEWBIRTH CHURCH, 401 E. Fifth Ave., will be hosting its Share the Hope contest from 9 am to noon on Saturday. They will distribute coats, hats, gloves and scarves to those attending the event. Details: (870) 536-3231.

• SUMMIT BAPTIST CHURCH, 901 Ridgway Road, will host a Christmas concert and the community is invited to attend. The Summit Soundz Celebration Band will perform their annual Christmas concert at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 18. This group includes high school and college students as well as group directors. This event is free.

• NEW COMMUNITY CHURCH, 321 N. Birch St., will be handing out Christmas baskets from its pantry Saturday from 9 am until food runs out. The community is invited to attend the drive-through distribution, according to a press release.

• ST. JOHN AME CHURCH will be hosting a Virtual Winter Vacation Bible School via Zoom from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. from December 27 to 29 for all age groups (preK to adults). The public is invited to participate. Registration is free and can be done until December 19 at Speakers will be Shaquille Ingram, Ayanna Williams and Brae McDonald. Reverend Cecil L.
