Here’s a look at promotions, hires, movers, and business news in the Memphis area:

In time for the new school year, Memphis University School appointed many new faculty members and appointed staff to lead students.

Jenny byers is the new director of college orientation and student programming. She serves alongside Zach hansen, whose revised title is Director of College Council and Strategic Initiatives, reflecting expanded responsibilities. Prior to his appointment, Byers had served as Director of College Council at Harpeth Hall School in Nashville since 2006.

Wendy trenthem joins MUS as director of the Joseph R. Hyde Jr. Library Learning Center. Trenthem was previously an educational technologist at Rhodes College. Zach Sandberg, who has been an assistant at Hyde Library since 2015, has been promoted to Librarian and works directly with Trenthem.

Anne McWaters is now director of study programs and strategic initiatives. In this new role, McWaters continues to lead the strategic planning process as co-chair of the Legacy Forward strategic plan with the Trustee Jim Barton.

Jake Deitrich brings college admissions experience to his role as assistant director of the college council. Previously, he was Deputy Director of Admissions at Syracuse University and Senior Professor of English at Avalon English in Seoul, South Korea.

Austin Hasenmüller joins the Development Office as Deputy Director of the Annual Fund and Alumni Programs. She has worked in public relations and fundraising since 2017, most recently as the Alumni Engagement Coordinator for Leadership Memphis.

Director Pierre Sanders appointed MUS instructor Orlando mckay as the first Pam and George Sousoulas Chair in Economics, endowed by former MUS student George Sousoulas to honor his late wife. McKay, MUS professor since 1996, teaches economics and psychology.

Lee loden was appointed director of the science department at MUS. Loden, who came from the Collegiate Church of Lausanne in 2011, teaches physics and robotics.

Analice So well was appointed Ruth McCaughan Morrison Chair of Science. Sowell has been a member of the Faculty of Science since 2007, teaching chemistry and materials science. She was chair of the science department from 2013 to 21.

Stephond Allmond joins the MUS team as coordinator of student life. He advises students on programs and activities, serves as a mentor and promotes inclusion among all groups. He is also a football and athletics coach.

Michele Cacioppo is the administrative assistant of MUS to the director. Cacioppo was an executive, administrative and research assistant at Och-Ziff Capital Management in New York from 2007 to 2012.

Lisa Toldi joined MUS as an administrative assistant at the school. Toldi came to MUS from Collierville High School with over 10 years of experience.

MUS Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management Buck Towner was appointed head coach of the varsity lacrosse team. He was an assistant coach at MUS for eight years.

Chris Wadsworth joins the MUS track and field staff as head strength and conditioning coach and program supervisor.

Kathy cook is the administrative assistant of the college. From 2011 to 2020, she was a mother at the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home Ranch.

John McBride joins the Office of Communications as a Communications Specialist.

French instructor Myriam Rosario joined the Department of Classical and Modern Languages ​​to teach accelerated French I and II and French III with specialization. Rosario brings his experience in teaching English, French and Spanish nationally and internationally since 1992 in France, Florida and Tennessee.

Anne Hedgepeth now teaches English in eighth and ninth grades. Hedgepeth taught writing at Briarcrest Christian School from 2017-21 as a grade eight team leader.

Shelley Harrison comes to MUS as an English instructor. Harrison is an experienced writer, editor, and teacher who began leading test preparation courses in 1990 and created teaching materials for the LSAT, California Law School, and Bar exams.
