ELKINS — High school students at Highland Adventist School recently completed their annual career shadowing internships.

All HAS students in grades 9-12 spent two weeks working with a local employer to learn more about the careers available at that company. The internship program is part of Highland Adventist School’s emphasis on career and college preparation.

The goal is to help students determine their level of interest in various careers. Graduates report that the program has helped them plan their training and education after high school and avoid costly mistakes by pursuing careers that are not suitable for them.

“Our students and staff would like to thank the following companies who graciously hosted our students this year,” Principal Cheryl Jacko said. “Seneca Design; RV Roys; New Start thrift store; Ms. Blanzy, teacher at HAS; Ms. Donna Huffman and the D&E Music Department; fancy legs; and Kenmie Computer have all welcomed our students and provided a wonderful introduction to careers at their premises. We also thank Mr. Locke, our internship coordinator. It was a very successful internship program.

Highland Adventist School offers an innovative Christian curriculum designed to help prepare students for a successful life after high school. For more information, visit or leave a message at 304-636-4274.
